Bollywood-made Bollywood movie hits Rs 8.8 crore in India’s first weekend
Bollywood’s first major film, Bollywood: The Last King of Kings, has been a massive hit in India, according to film distributor Bollywood Exhibitions.
The film, starring actor Ranbir Kapoor and producer Amitabh Bachchan, grossed Rs 8,867.24 crore in its first weekend on Sunday.
Bollywood Exiders chief executive Rahul Bajpai said the film has been an instant hit and has earned a profit of Rs 2 crore.
“Bollywood’s Bollywood boom is going strong.
This is a great start,” he told ET over phone from Bengaluru.
The movie was released on the first week of March and is already available in a few cities.
“This movie will help the industry in terms of making the best film possible.
I’m really happy with the success of the movie,” said producer Amitadbhai Patel, who is also co-founder of BollywoodExhibitions with Bajwa.
The producer, who has made over 10 movies with the likes of Bajraj Kapoor, Prakash Desai, Manoj Tiwari and Rajkumar Hirani, said the success in the movie is a huge boost to the industry.
“Our aim is to bring the film to every Indian, especially the Bollywood fans.
This will give the B-school students in India the opportunity to see this film,” he added.
Patel said he has also set up a booth in Bengaluru to promote the film in the city.
He added that the film will be distributed nationwide by Bollywood Express, a Bollywood distributor based in New Delhi.
“We have been trying to make the film available in Bengalu, Hyderabad, and other cities.
The first two cities where we are distributing it are in New York and LA,” he said.
The production company has also released a video, in which it talks about the film’s story.
“As per our research, it’s a family drama with a plot that revolves around the love story of a young couple, Akshay and Keshav, who live in a village,” it said.
“Akshay is a boyish kid who gets bullied by Keshar.
He is bullied by his sister who is called Akshaye.
They get in a fight and end up having a romantic quarrel.
But the next day, Keshal comes to the village and gets the two boys married.”
Patel says the movie will also explore the love stories between parents.
“There is a lot of love between the parents and the son, which is the story of Akshayan and KESHAR.
The plot is very heartwarming.
It is a film that has the strength to talk about love and happiness.”
BollywoodExiders is in talks to release a sequel to the film, titled Bollywood King of Kingdoms.
The film, which will be released on April 4, is expected to gross over Rs 10 crore.
